I agree with your analysis regarding the current financial crisis and the feeble efforts to address a long standing problem. What is the most disconcerting is that I have not spoken with one person, Democrat, Republican, Independent or non affiliated, who agrees with the bailout. In fact all that I have spoken with are staunchly against it. So, how is it that our representatives decided to do what their constituents clearly opposed? I think that there should be an organized effort among all who are against the bailout to hold our representatives accountable for acting so hastily and caving in to the fear tactics used by the financial institutions to basically further fleece America. Why isn't there going to be an effort by Congress to determine how much financial institutions made from derivatives trading between the time they issued their instruments that they claim lost value because of the "crisis" and now? It seems that Wall Street has the ultimate hedge for all of their financial woes, the American people. Further, based on what the markets are doing right now, not even Wall Street believes in the "bailout" that they demanded. Lastly, why are certain financial institutions having spa parties and renting entire amusement parks for parties to celebrate their success in the continiued fleecing of America. They continue to waste our value with impunity and the people that have been elected to represent us are doing absolutely nothing about it. Why don't they just say "Let Them Eat Cake". At least then ordinary taxpayers would know exactly where they stand.
